Installed in June 2015 – Knebworth Recreation Ground is the second place to benefit from our modified 4-Tower Activity Centre – re-designed to suit older children and to make play more exciting and invigorating.
This multi-play adventure play frame was combined with a trim-trail around the perimeter – and contained within our heavy-duty timber fence.
Our PlayBond recycled rubber mulch safer surfacing was installed (along with Eco-Base) in a Redwood colour – which looks brilliant when combined with the play equipment and local surroundings.

We were contacted by Caerau Primary School in February 2013 looking to buy some Outdoor Gym Equipment for their outdoor playground. As it was to be installed onto the Tarmac playground, they also required a safer surface.

They already had decided which pieces of outdoor gym equipment they wanted, so we discussed their requirements for safer surfacing to meet with their budget. It was decided that PlayBond safer surfacing would be the best and most cost effective solution.

They have also had some musical sensory panels – Part of our interactive panels range.

Despite the difficult access to the installation site, we were able to come up with a solution for installing the equipment.

*Play equipment made from recycled plastic has an  expected lifespan of at least 4 times that of the equivalent manufactured in timber or steel.

VILLAGERS have celebrated the opening of a new community play area that has been almost 25 years in the making.

Wimbotsham stalwart Don Gates officially unveiled the new facility close to the village primary school on Friday.

Community leaders were among hundreds of guests who gathered for the celebrations, while children from the Wimbotsham Primary and the Stow Bardolph Montessori schools had the chance to try out the equipment for themselves.

Recreation ground committee treasurer Barry Wells said the ground was particularly important to allow youngsters inspired by the summer of Olympic and Paralympic sport to play locally.

He said: “We have now got a great legacy where children can start to develop. It’s a great recreation area.”

The opening marked the end of a 24-year fundraising drive by residents, which began when the ownership of the site passed to the trustees of the Cox estate in 1988.

From then on, residents campaigned to raise more than £45,000 to buy the land, which was finally secured in 2010.

The land purchase then allowed community leaders to bid for funding from a host of organisations to fund most of the £38,000 needed to build the play area.

The recreation club committee also funded a new drainage system and junior football pitch to allow youngsters to play all year round.

Mr Wells said: “It was a bit like climbing Everest. Even when we were halfway up, the peak still looked a long way away.”
